ABIA Formula One Customs Modifications

Austin, Texas

In November 2012, Grand Prix’s Formula One held its inaugural race in Austin, Texas.  Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) had a significant responsibility to manage the influx of international travelers and the voluminous equipment that supports the race.

Encotech provided Mechanical and Electrical Engineering services for ABIA’s preliminary customs modifications.  The project included production of the construction documents and limited construction phase services for four customs agent booths and design modifications to a baggage claim area.

Encotech’s electrical services incorporated providing electrical power to the customs agent booths, and new exit lighting and signage for new walls and emergency exit doors in the baggage claim area.  With the reconfiguration of walls, the firm evaluated the existing lighting distribution, calculated photometrics and determined switch gear locations.

The firm’s mechanical engineering services included evaluation of the existing HVAC system’s efficiency in the renovated space, and the relocation of the grilles to accommodate deficiencies.
